Mark Hughes has been handed a huge boost heading into the summer transfer window as Bruno Martins Indi has stated that he wants to stay with the Staffordshire-based club.
Martins Indi, 25, has found a new lease of life at Stoke, and has been a mainstay in their defence throughout this season and has instilled himself as a fan-favourite amongst the Stoke faithful.
Stoke have an agreement in place with FC Porto for the sale of Martins Indi for a reported £8.5m, but a lot of Stoke fans were worried that Bruno would see his future at a higher level after his superb performances throughout the 2016/17 season.
“We are talking to each other, the club and me. I have the intention to stay. We want to see what is going to happen,” he said.
“I was following Stoke City before I was here and I knew the way the manager wants to play.
“He gave me a lot of confidence to come here and he trusted me, I am happy that I could give him that back.”
Martins Indi has stated that the target for Stoke City is still seventh spot in the Premier League despite trailing Everton by a huge 11 points.
“That’s the biggest challenge for us,” he stated. “We’re going to get there, it’s going to be difficult, but it’s a project I really like and I want to see how far we can go.
“We’re are now on a good run and we’re confident. People inside the club have already spoke about seventh, it’s a very good aim to get there and it’s going to be difficult.
“We just have to focus game by game and get the points.”
