Marc Wilson joined from Portsmouth and made his Stoke debut against Aston Villa in 2010.

On Boxing Day that season, Wilson scored his only Stoke goal in a 2-0 victory over Blackburn.

He is a versatile player that has featured in a number of positions from left-back to right-back and central midfield. However under Pulis he was the regular left back with Pulis stating he was “Stoke’s unsung hero.” He even went as far as saying Marc was the best left back in the league!

The Irish international signed a new three-year deal at the start of the 2012/13 season. In October that season he broke his fibula against Sunderland.

With the departure of Pulis and the arrival of Erik Pieters and Marc Muniesa, Wilson has been unable to regain his place in the first team at left back, but has seen more success at centre back with injury to Ryan Shawcross. With the captain out for two months, Wilson will have another opportunity to lead the back line in the early stages of the season in his absence.
