Marko Arnautovic joined from Werder Bremen in 2013 with few knowing much about him.

Hughes gave his opinion on the Austrian saying: “People will very quickly see what an outstanding talent he is. In terms of his power and his pace, which is something I think we need in the squad, he ticks all the boxes.”

He scored his first goal at Old Trafford with a free-kick from 20 yards but it was in vain in a 3-2 Stoke defeat.

The Austria international grew into his wide role and with the addition of Peter Odemwingie Stoke had a lethal trio of attacking options on the counter attack, which bared fruit against West Ham in a 3-1 win.

In terms of goals and assists, Arnautovic seems to rarely provide directly, despite the fact he is heavily invovled in most attacks. Against Man City, he delivered a perfect ball for Peter Crouch to equalise against Man City before the Citizens ran riot in the second half and scored a late equaliser against West Ham United (two other goals of his that game, ruled out!).
