It was all about Shaqiri today, as the Swiss Superman scored a spectacular double to hand Stoke the victory.
The Potters eased to victory against a poor Hull side to make it back to back wins, as we finally seem to have our season back on track.
Hughes fielded an unchanged side to the one that beat Sunderland, including Phil Bardsley, who was a doubt up until today.
Just like last week, Stoke looked the dominant side. It took till the 26th minute for us to prove that dominance, as Shaqiri found the net.
The winger picked the ball up outside the box, looked to find a pass, and when he realised the opportunity, he unleashed a lethal strike to the near post. The shot dipped and nestled beautifully in the top corner, giving Marshall absolutely no chance.
A moment of magic from Shaqiri, and there was more to come in the second half.
He almost became the provider, as he fed Bony through late into the first half, but his goalbound shot was blocked by Dawson.
Shaqiri would double his goal tally for the day in the second half, in typical flamboyant fashion.
From a free-kick on the edge of the box (which he also managed to win), he was able to get his strike up and over the wall and into the net. That brings his total up to 3 goals already this season, levelling the amount he scored last season already.
This goal would prove to be enough in the end, but that didn’t stop us going for more. Shaqiri again was the architect, as he maneuvered his way through the Hull defence, before playing a delightful 40 yard ball over the top to Arnautovic, who was able to bring the ball down and run at goal, but his effort would unfortunately be saved by Marshall.
The win means Stoke are now four games unbeaten in the league, and brings us out of the drop zone up to 16th.
