Stoke City’s six-game unbeaten streak ended as they suffered a frustrating home defeat against AFC Bournemouth.

But how did they rate?

Lee Grant [GK] – 6.5

Not called upon too often today, but made a vital save early on to deny Joshua King a certain goal. Nothing he could have done regarding the goal.

Phil Bardsley [RB] – 6.5

Tried and tried all afternoon, and constantly brought Stoke forward and gave them a much-needed outlook on the right hand side before he was subbed off in the second-half with an injury.

Ryan Shawcross [CB] – 6

Seriously lucky not to have been sent off after crunching Callum Wilson from behind in the box winning none of the ball. Despite that, Shawcross made vital blocks and interceptions when he had to do so, and his passing was magnificent all afternoon.

Bruno Martins Indi [CB] – 7.5

Absolutely superb all afternoon; Martins Indi controlled proceedings in the defence, and kept Callum Wilson quiet all afternoon for Bournemouth. Very unlucky to have been on the losing side.

Erik Pieters [LB] – 5.5

Constantly an option going forward for Stoke all afternoon, but in typical Erik Pieters fashion was unable to deliver any real quality in the final third. Defensively, Pieters was caught out all afternoon, and gave away the foul that led to Nathan Aké’s goal.

Joe Allen [CDM] – 5.5

Really struggled today in what looks to be his weakest position in a red and white shirt. Allen is at his best for Stoke when he’s playing in behind the striker, and really struggled to have any impact on the game today. Probably didn’t help with the fact he wasn’t playing next to a natural defensive midfielder.

Charlie Adam [CDM] – 5

One to forget this afternoon for Adam who’s been Stoke’s best player over the past few games. Stoke were constantly overran in the midfield by Wilshere, Arter and Gosling, and Adam, much like Allen needed a more defensive minded player alongside him.

Xherdan Shaqiri [RM] – 5

Shaq’s return from injury was drowned out by a fantastic defensive performance from Charlie Daniels and Joshua King. The pair seemingly doubled up on Xherdan, and gave him absolutely nothing all afternoon. Should have done better when he had a golden chance to score late-on as well.

Bojan Krkic [CAM] – 5

Not the best display from Bojan, who really had a point to prove today regarding his first team place. Despite initially winning the penalty with a neat piece of skill, he would have been majorly disappointed to see his crash back off the crossbar.

Marko Arnautovic [LM] – 5

Again, like the majority of Stoke’s team today, tried to create all afternoon, and much like Shaqiri, was doubled up on by a very wise display from Eddie Howe’s men. One to forget for Arnie.

Wilfried Bony [ST] – 4.5

Yet another frustrating performance from the Ivorian who was pretty poor again for Stoke today. Bony was constantly beaten to the ball all afternoon, and now Hughes faces a dilemma as to whether he sticks with Bony, or perhaps presents Crouch, Diouf or Walters a chance against Watford.

Peter Crouch: 5

Glen Johnson: 5

Jonathan Walters: 5
