In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Saturdays hero Xherdan Shaqiri admitted that he watches his beautiful goals ‘time and time again’, after scoring from two stunning strikes against Hull.
The winger hit the net twice on Saturday, with both being from outside the box. The first of the evening was an incredible strike to the near post from 25-yards out, the latter was off a direct free-kick, his second of the season.
Speaking after the game to the Daily Mail, he said: “Most of the time my goals are really beautiful and I watch them time and time again.”
The Swiss brings his tally up to 3 goals for this season, the same amount as he managed in the whole of last season, and he is already hoping to add to this.
“Of course everybody wants to score more goals. Every midfielder would love to score 10 or 12 goals a season but this is a tough league.
“I know I have the quality to shoot well and I’m a player to take a risk and gamble. I space I will shoot from anywhere.”
The Potters finally look to have their season back on track, mostly thanks to the influence of Shaqiri. With him in the side this season, we are yet to lose a game (2W, 3D).
The key is to now keep him injury free for the rest of the season, which with his recent track-record, could be a concern. If he can keep fit and his fine form, then it could be a big season for both Shaq and the club.
